Dr. G. Michael Grimsley, DC Dr. Michael Grimsley was born and raised in Beltsville, MD. He attended Carson-Newman College in Tennessee from 1982 to 1985 where he studied his pre-chiropractic requirements with an emphasis on Human Biology. In 1985 he enrolled at Logan College of Chiropractic and graduated in 1988 with a BS Degree in Human Biology and his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree. He received academic honors at both colleges. After his internship Dr. Grimsley worked in a successful private practice outside of New Orleans until 1992 when he relocated to his home state of Maryland and joined the practice of Dr.’s Burt and Pat Henry. Dr. Grimsley and Dr. Burt Henry had been long time friends before practicing together. When the Henry’s relocated to Colorado in 1997, Dr. Grimsley assumed ownership of the practice. Dr. Grimsley pursues an active lifestyle which includes cycling, scuba diving & weightlifting as well as martial arts. He especially enjoys treating sports related injuries & providing nutritional advice to his patients. Dr. Grimsley is a member of The American Chiropractic Association, the Maryland Chiropractic Association and the American Chiropractic Association’s Council on Exercise Rehabilitation.
Dr. Charles Hester, DC Dr. Hester is from Anne Arundel County, Maryland. He attended University of Maryland of Baltimore County and then continued on to Logan College of Chiropractic where he graduated from in 1987. While at Logan, Dr. Hester excelled both in academics, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude second in his class, and clinically where he received numerous clinical awards for top performance. While at Logan, Dr. Hester taught radiographic positioning and safety during his clinical internship. After graduation, he worked in Baltimore for 1 year and then opened his own practice in 1987 in Pasadena, MD. He worked there until 1997 when he joined Henry Chiropractic. Dr. Hester is a past board member of the Maryland Chiropractic Association where he served as southern district director. Professionally, Dr. Hester continues his clinical training in Spinal and Sport Rehabilitation Diplomate program through Los Angeles University Health Sciences, Nutritional Training through the Functional Medicine Institute, Graston Soft Tissue Manipulation Levels I & II for the treatment of muscle and tendon sport injuries and every day tendon and ligament injuries http://www.grastontechnique.com/. Currently, Dr. Hester is taking his 350 hour diplomate course training in neurology through Carrick Institute. This training in neurology has been a great benefit in the treatment of head ache (migraine and common tension type), vertigo and balance problems, and help with chronic pain syndromes. His outside office interests are cycling, masters swimming, scuba diving, and fishing. Mr. John Hanson, Lic.Ac., M.Ac. John Hanson, a nationally board certified acupuncturist, joined the practice in 1998. His formal education includes receiving his BS in Biology/ Pre-Med from the University of Massachusetts in 1977, then his MBA in 1979. He became a certified EMT and worked at Emerson Hospital in concord, MA in 1985. That same year, John began attending the New England School of Acupuncture (NESA) and graduated in 1990. He served on the faculty of NESA for 5 Years, 1 and a half of which were as the Clinical Director while maintaining a private practice in Acton, MA. He and his family moved to St. Mary’s County, MD in 1997. John has had additional post-graduate study in the field of nutrition, homeopathic drainage and various medical energetic techniques. El Sweeney, CMT Elinor Sweeney is a nationally certified massage therapist that joined the practice in 2000. She earned her BS degree in Elementary Education and taught for 10 years. She received her massage Certification from Baltimore School of Massage in 2000. She has also received her Level I training in Craniosacral Therapy and is an Advanced Reiki II Practitioner. Elinor's techniques include deep tissue, Swedish, Myofascial, and seated massage. Since 2005 she is also a volunteer for Hospice of St. Mary's County. Susan Fletcher, CMT Susan Fletcher is a Maryland Certified massage therapist who joined the practice in 2003. Susan graduated from PMTI massage school in Washington, DC in 1986. She practiced massage in Columbia and Baltimore, Maryland in the 1980’s and later taught deep tissue massage and Anatomy and Physiology for 8 years at the very school she graduated from. Susan relocated to Southern Maryland in 2000. She utilizes deep tissue massage, craniofacial, Polarity and therapeutic touch. Susan keeps current on the most recent massage techniques and body work modalities. Gina Guffey, RYT Gina Guffey has been practicing yoga for 6 years and began teaching in October 2002 after completing a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Program at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY. She completed her Pranassage™ Practitioner Training at the Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica March 2004. Gina has also been an active Advanced Reiki II Practitioner with the Synthesis Center of St. Mary's since 1997. She has been working in the health care field for 20 years as a Dental Hygienist and as a member of the National Yoga Alliance. |
